E-Tickets

The E-Ticket replaces the order-level QR code and page for mobile ticket delivery and adds an alternative option for print-at-home ticket customers who can’t easily open PDFs on a phone.

Provide flexible ticket options for your events and give your customers a branded hub to manage them with E-Tickets.

E-Tickets offer a single barcode for the entire order or one barcode per ticket. Both options streamline admissions for your attendees.

Your event template sets the primary colours and background images on your E-Tickets.

How it works

Customers reach the E-Tickets page from the View / Print Tickets link in their order confirmation email. They can also reach it from the link in their mobile tickets.

Customers who choose mobile delivery receive an SMS message.

Benefits

  • One barcode per attendee: Onsite staff scan a single QR code for each attendee, rather than checking in tickets one at a time.
  • Mobile-friendly layout: Ticket details are prominent, and QR codes are clean and easy to scan.
  • Shareable single tickets: Attendees can send one ticket to the person attending with them. Read Sending a single ticket below.

Sending a single ticket

Each ticket on the E-Tickets page has its own controls. An attendee sends one ticket like this:

  1. Go to the E-Tickets page using the View / Print Tickets link in the order confirmation email
  2. Under the ticket they want to send, click Copy Link
  3. Send the copied link to the person attending with them

The copied link opens that one ticket. The recipient gets the barcode, ticket type, and event details for that ticket only. They can't reach the other tickets in the order.

Copy Link, PDF, Add to Apple Wallet, and Add to Google Wallet each apply to the ticket they appear under. To share several tickets, the attendee copies each ticket's link separately.

The link in the order confirmation email works differently. It opens the full E-Tickets page with every ticket in the order.

Sharing a ticket link isn't a ticket transfer. The tickets still belong to the purchaser.

Important considerations

  • The order-level QR code still exists
    • We recommend you enable the Hide Sale Barcode advanced setting. Otherwise the order-level QR code stays visible in the order confirmation email, which can confuse customers. It scans as usual either way.
  • Reserved seating is supported
    • Seat and row information appears on each ticket where appropriate.
  • No advertising space
    • If you sell ad space on your tickets, E-Tickets may not suit your event. PDF tickets aren't the focus of this experience.
  • Product vouchers still use order-level QR codes
    • This is the one case where an order-level QR code appears on the E-Tickets page. The Show Sale Barcodes advanced setting can't force them elsewhere.
  • Not a fit for order-level scanning
    • We don't recommend E-Tickets for sellers who rely on order-level QR codes in their onsite operations.
